He didn’t attempt such tactics this time, though, setting just even fractions before fading late, basically acting as pacemaker for his two stablemates…

Was further back in the field than one might have expected until beginning to make his move under three furlongs down. However, he arrived on the scene in plenty of time and disputed the lead with every chance before the winner found a little extra. Given that his career has been defined by a mix of superb victories and unmitigated flops, it was something of a novelty to see him lose out in a tight battle, and yet reassuring at the same time, underlining the quality of the winner’s performance.
